About J.CASHION

Jonathan Cashion is a self-taught abstract artist working through intuition, material exploration, and emotional restraint. Although he signs his paintings J. CASHION, he is known personally as “Cash.” His practice is driven by an internal dialogue rather than predetermined outcomes. Some works are shaped by a singular emotional presence, while others emerge through a deliberate suspension of expectation, allowing gesture, movement, and surface to dictate the composition.

Sound plays a foundational role in Cashion’s process. Music informs tempo, spatial rhythm, and the physicality of mark-making, embedding an atmospheric undercurrent within the finished work. Unbound by academic tradition, the practice has evolved through sustained experimentation with scale, technique, and an ever-developing visual language.

Cashion’s work is primarily abstract, with selective explorations into realism and the recurring appearance of original cubist-influenced figures that transition from drawing to canvas. The artist specializes in custom, large-scale works and fabricates their own frames, stretching completed canvases so the edges function as an integral extension of the composition rather than a boundary.

Cashion produces commissioned works in any scale and demonstrates a refined sensitivity to translating a specific mood, individual presence, or architectural environment into paint. The work exists as a measured exchange between control and surrender—where emotion, sound, and material converge into a singular, considered statement.

To own a J. CASHION painting reflects a desire to express a fearless, unapologetic creative identity.
